Boat Racing Heritage Center
A Non-Profit 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to preserving the history of boat racing. The NBRHC hosts an annual 2 day vintage race boat speed exhibition on the Ohio River in Madison IN.
One of Madison’s most beloved landmarks, originally presented to the city in 1884. A hundred years later it was replaced with the bronze reproduction on display today. Loved by visitors and locals, you won’t want to miss the fountain.

Jefferson County Historical Society & Railroad Station
The official history keepers of Madison and Jefferson County were founded in 1850. This campus includes the main building with a history museum and the historic 1895 railroad station with its large display of railroad memorabilia, plus a 1918 authentically restored caboose.

The Madison Society Library was originally founded in April 1818, and now boasts the oldest library in Indiana thanks to the foresight of Madison’s earliest residents.

Lanier Mansion State Historic Site
Considered the “Crown Jewel” of Madison, this Greek revival mansion was finished in the 1840s and was home to James Franklin Doughty Lanier. The mansion is a state historic site and offers informative historic tours of the mansion.

Dr. W. D. Hutchings’ Office & Museum
One of the most authentic 19th century medical history restorations in the US. Hundreds of Dr. Hutchings’ medical records, surgical tools, books and other artifacts including early electrical healing devices fill the office.

Francis Costigan House
Francis Costigan completed this masterpiece of design on a small lot in 1851. Costigan, who also designed the Lanier Mansion and the Shrewsbury House, is considered Indiana’s leading pre-Civil War architect and master builder.

Built about 1820 and considered Madison’s first mansion, this stately Federal-style structure was home to one of Indiana’s early leaders, Jeremiah Sullivan.
